The ASIsafe concept supports the direct integration of safety-related components, such as emergency stop switches, protective door switches or safety light arrays, in the AS-Interface network. These are fully compatible with the familiar AS-Interface components (masters, slaves, power supplies, repeaters, etc.) in according to IEC 62026/EN 50295 and are operated in conjunction with them on the yellow AS-Interface cable.

Load Feeders 3RA71
The 3RA71 safety load feeders are offered for direct start. They are available with actuating voltages of 230 V 50/60 Hz (Category 3) and 24 V DC (Categories 3 and 4). Depending on the external circuit, choice of actuator and its position on the machine, Categories 3 or 4 according to EN 954-1 or SIL 2 or 3 (Safety Integrity Level) according to IEC 61508 can be achieved.
Similarly the product range of safety load feeders contains expansion units with and without time delays. These expansion units can only be used in combination with a basic unit. Load feeders can be configured in Stop Category 1 thanks to expansion units with time delays from 0.05 to 3 s, or 0.5 to 30 s.

Integrated Signal Lamps 8WD5
8WD53 integrated signal lamps can be mounted directly at any point of the machine for the purpose of giving visual signals. They are mounted by means of a Pg 29 screw base with nut.
All integrated signal lamps have a high degree of protection IP65 and are made of a material highly resistant to impact.
The special shape of the integrated signal lamps means that the light is emitted optimally in every direction (to the sides and upwards). Steady lights (incandescent lamp or LED version) and single-flash lights are available in the following colors: red, green, yellow, clear and blue.
The LED versions of the integrated signal lamps offer a considerably longer service life with the same luminosity. LED lights are available as a steady light, repeated-flash light and rotating beacon.

Cable Operated Switches 3SE7 or 3SF2
SIRIUS cable-operated switches are used for monitoring or for EMERGENCY-STOP facilities on particularly endangered system sections.
As the effective range of a cable-operated switch is only limited by the length of the pull-cable, large systems can also be protected. Cable-operated switches (requiring pulling at both ends) and conveyor belt unbalance trackers are used primarily for monitoring very long belt systems.

Switch Strips Sensors
Finger-traps are a danger on many machines and other technical installations. In these situations, the simplest protection is implemented with rubber switching strips that on the one hand halt the dangerous motion in a failsafe state and on the other hand act as a buffer to prevent injury.
The edge of the rubber strip (signal encoder) is monitored optically by means of a fail-safe send/receive sensor that is inserted into the strip from the outside. This means that any length can be used, cut to length as required by the customer.

Light Barriers
When space is at a premium, contact-free light barriers are the ideal solution for access protection to danger zones, danger points or entry points. Designed to the degree of protection IP65, they have a range of up to 150 m in Category 2. The light barriers of Category 4 with a range of up to 60 m feature frequency modulated infrared light and integral pollution monitoring. Additional evaluation units support start/restart inhibiting, contactor control and muting functions.

Light Curtains & Arrays
The contact-free, active optoelectronic light curtains and light arrays for Category 2 and 4 according to EN 954-1 protect operating personnel at running machines or plants or in their vicinity. Thanks to specially developed integrated circuits (ASICs) and a patented, intelligent evaluation technique, they are extremely fault-tolerant and highly available. A wide range of different functions including start/restart inhibiting, contactor control, muting, cycle control and blanking support a wide range of different applications such as finger and hand protection, horizontal danger zone protection or access protection to large areas. A variant is available for connection to ASIsafe.
A light curtain or light array comprises an emitter and a receiver, which must be mounted opposite each other. Depending on the resolution and the length, a certain number of transmit and receive diodes are arranged on top of each other. The infrared LEDs of the emitter emit short light pulses that are detected by the receive diodes.
